A gift basket is virtually guaranteed to be well received by whoever you send it to. But if you don’t know that person very well it helps to do some research before you make your choice.
Try and find out what the person likes if you can. Even one or two clues can make the gift basket selection easier, and will help you to choose something they are likely to enjoy.
You could always speak to a friend or relative of the person in order to get a little more information on their likes and dislikes. It’s often better to find out what they don’t like, so you can be sure to avoid giving them a gift basket they won’t use at all.
If you are on your own in making a decision, stick to a more general gift basket. For example, a cheese and wine basket might not be the best choice as many people don’t eat cheese. A better option would be to buy a gift basket that includes several different items, such as luxury biscuits, a jar of olives, a selection of chocolates, home baked shortbread, nuts and much more. This kind of all round choice will usually have both sweet and savoury items in it, so it’s guaranteed to have something for everyone.
Unless you specifically know the person enjoys the occasional alcoholic drink, it’s best to avoid the hard stuff as well. Keeping your gift basket alcohol free will also keep the price down, as you’re more likely to spend less money on someone you don’t know too well.
Make a point of shopping around when you are searching for the perfect basket. Many outlets sell similar gift baskets at very different prices, and you can save a considerable amount on your gift simply by taking the time to search your local shops and on the internet before making a purchase.
Gift baskets are the ideal choice if you are buying a gift for someone you only know casually. There are plenty of options to choose from and with a little time and thought you should be able to come up with the perfect gift for virtually anyone.
