When you are thinking of buying a gift basket for someone, one of the main considerations you need to bear in mind is what size basket to buy. Obviously the bigger the basket the more delectable treats you will be able to fit in it.
But the biggest consideration is what your overall budget is – and you will need to factor in the cost of delivery as well.
The good news is there are baskets of all shapes and sizes, as well as prices to suit every budget. Think about the reason why you are giving a gift basket as well; sometimes the occasion – as well as the person you are giving it to – will dictate which size gift basket would be appropriate.
For example, if you are giving a gift basket to one of your lifelong friends to celebrate a notable birthday, then a large gift basket containing a wide array of items would be a fantastic idea. But if you are sending a gift basket to an acquaintance as a means of thanking them for something they have done – perhaps for their good will as a client of yours – then a much smaller basket would be more appropriate.
The size of the gift basket also depends on the size of the items you are putting into it. It sounds obvious, but in fact the basket should always look nice and full. Buying a basket which is too large for the items you want to include can make your gift look much cheaper than a small basket packed with lots of goodies – even if the second basket actually cost less to put together.
You also need to bear in mind the need for packing material, such as wood wool, which goes underneath your gifts and is mouldable enough to form a bed for them. This allows the various items to be arranged to their best advantage. Shallow baskets rarely work well because the contents are liable to slide out.
In short, there are many different sizes of gift baskets to choose from, depending on the occasion, the recipient and what you want to give them. You’ll know you’ve picked the right one when you see the smile on their face as they open their gift.
